Driving in winter weather conditions can be a very stressful experience, we in the UK are simply not used to and have no confidence in driving amongst the ice and snow. But there are a few things you can do in order to make the drive a far more comfortable experience.
The first few tips are quite straight forward and are really common sense. The first of these being have your car checked on a regular basis throughout the year, this might seem a bit of a chore on a sunny summers day but you’ll be thankful of it when you are not stuck out in the cold snow waiting for a pick up tuck. Winter tyres are a god send in the snow, they are more flexible in low temperatures than standard tyres. This means they give you more grip in the snow, helping to keep you on the road and reduce the risk of having an accident. The final common sense tip to simply to practice driving in the snow. This might not be an ideal way to spend your ‘snow day’ but in the cold and dark you’ll be thankful you know how to handle your car if you skid on ice.
Everyone has heard the saying low speed, high gear but many people put this down as an ‘old wife’s tale’. This is actually the best way to drive, this allows for higher levels of traction which help to keep you on the road. Second gear is probably the best gear to choose and stick to lower speeds.
Remember that snow and ice can make your car glide so it is important to keep your distance. We all know we are meant to keep our distance in summer conditions but it is even more important to do this in winter. Keep scanning ahead for break lights and remember that most people will be breaking with their engines so you might not see those lights until the last minute.
If however you are involved in an accident in your Maserati over the winter and you think you might be entitled to make a car accident compensation claim, you can talk to an Irwin Mitchell Road Traffic Lawyer for help and advice on what to do next.
The Ferrari 599 GTB has the seating capacity of only 2 people, the 612 Scaglietti is large- but what if you have a large family, a dog as well as an elephant gun to carry in the car? In this scenario the Quattro Porte Bellagio enters, it certainly isn’t the old fashioned station wagon but a lot more.
I was indeed surprised to find that the Maserati Quattro Porte was parked at the Villa d’Este.
So this is the Maserati Quattro Porte Bellagio fast back touring which has a beckoning sloping roof and has been built by Carrozzeria touring, the same people who had invented the superleggera in the 1930’s. It was first shown at last year’s edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza an event that is now celebrated annually. This is a car that has a Ferrari like engine upfront and has lots of leather in the middle and which can hold the whole family at the back. This is the Quattro Porte an irresistible package of sturdiness and comfort.

In the early part of this year in The United States Maserati ran a contest with the Architectural Digest magazine to design an architecturally perfect garage for Maserati. The competition was divided into two sections – existing and concept. Some 125 entries were received overall and winners have been selected. Winner of the ‘Existing’ category was Holger Schubert’s property located in Los Angeles. This property was designed with twin objectives, one being to create a pure and minimalist ambience that allows to present the car as a work of art and the second was to create the ultimate experience for the driver when he reaches home.
Schubert’s garage has the atmosphere of an art gallery and it is located on the upper level of a hillside extension of a 1953 ranch style home that overlooks western Los Angeles. Access too this garage is via a bridge, while a 1200 square foot space not just houses a car but has a large open space to place a sofa, a slide away TV and an in-built book shelf that is in front of a large room for storage. There is also a small kitchen, bathroom and a library. Building products that were sustainable in all weather conditions were used as far as possible, for example the 47 solar panels that cover the roof and the wall insulation made of natural cotton fiber. e to design an architecturally perfect garage for Maserati. Continue Reading »The latest version of the Maserati Gran Turismo Spyder will come without a retractable hard top, which is the usual trend among convertibles like the Ferrari California and some others. Confirmed reports from industry sources state that this one will have a typical soft top. The move to keep a soft top was a result of the poor sales of the Ferrari California. Additionally, Maserati intends to have a completely soft top convertible like the Bentley Continental GTC. Research has shown that more customers prefer a soft top over a retractable hard top. Some additional details of the Gran Turismo state that it will have the same power train and transmission as the coupe version. This implies that 405HP 4.2 liter V8 coupled with the 433HO 4.7 liter unit will finally be available as the manufacturing company wants to generate interest for its new models. In September 2009, the Maserati Gran Turismo Spyder will be launched in the market at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Although a premium version is expected over the Coupe version but the details of the price have not yet been released.
