Maserati was initially set up in the Bologna, Italy by the family of motoring enthusiasts who had a passion for vehicles. The brothers Bindo, Carlo, Alfieri, Ettoree and Ernesto sonsof Rodolfo were basically designers and engineers who were interested in the car except Mario who became a painter. Initially they started off with modifying the luxury car ‘Isotta Fraschinis’ which was used for racing purpose. The first ever Maserati came in April 1926 which won the Targa Florio at the race track. After a year it also won the Italian Constructors title. Maserati even shattered the world land speed record in the year 1929 with a speed of 246.069km/h over 10km. The car was said to be V4 powered which was 280 BHP and was driven by the known Baconin Borzacchini. The Grand Tourer with a Castagna body is the first Maserati to make its debut in the Milan show in the year 1931. Maserati also won first in the water speed record.
Maserati 250F has been ranked the greatest racing car and was elected by Sir Stirling Moss. This car is believed to have won the Fangio, the Argentine Grand Prix. An aerodynamic 250F was created in the year 1955 for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Maserati had a glorious time by winning the first three places in Argentina. It also got the Fangio’s world title. In 1977 again Maserati came out with a new design, 12 cylinder engine which can be used for Formula 1 and then previewed that at the Geneva Show. The Maserati team launched Tipo 60-61 which was later nicknamed Birdcage. The Maserati innovation did not end here, it came out with yet again a special car, Maserati Eldorado for the Monza high-speed track which was driven by Stirling Moss. Maserati after getting relieved from the motorsport officially did not stop engineering racing cars. It has engineered for Berlinetta models. The Cooper-Maserati which was driven won the Mexican GP which was driven by John Surtees which in turn got second and third place in the World Championship. Maserati has sold 5659 cars in the year 2009 and has its presence felt all over the world. Maserati also has also got the titles offered in the GT1 2007 FIA International Championship. Maserati cars come with the most dynamic look which will fulfill the desires of the sports freaks that are in search of the best sports cars.
