The soft top seems to be gaining popularity these days with respect to high end cars and it looks like the newest Maserati GranTurismo Spyder will not be coming with the retractable hard top either.
Several confirmed reports say that a particular soft top has already been chosen by Maserati for its next release. One of the reasons for not including hard top might be very low sales in California which is the most rewarding market for Maserati with many young Technology Millionaires looking forward to buying fast cars. The other reason might be hard top is heavier than soft top and it makes the car slightly slower and with soft top, the car is much lighter and faster. It also looks like Maserati is aiming towards competing with the soft-top Bentley Continental GTC convertible. Several studies show that more customers are eager to opt for a soft-top than a retractable hardtop. It also seems likely that the GrandTurismo and the coupe variant will be sharing power trains and transmissions. The implication is that the 405 Horsepower 4.2L V8 together with the 433 Horsepower 4.7L unit will be offered since the carmaker wants to have more performance on its new models compared to its competitors. Coming September, In the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Maserati GranTurismo Spyder would be showcased to the world. The pricing details for the new Maserati Gran Turismo Spyder haven’t been released yet and I bet it won’t be priced any less than its counterparts.

With Lindsay Lohan’s record of alcohol abuse, it was no wonder that she would wreck the car sooner or later; it came sooner than Dennis DeSantis thought. In March she let her Assistant drive the Maserati and she clipped a pole causing $10,000 in damage to the car. The damage was covered by Dennis DeSantis but he was foolish enough to send the car back after getting it repaired. Just couple of months later, the car was towed for being illegally parked near ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson’s house in Los Angeles and this caused the DeSantis generosity to end and he took back the car from Lindsay Lohan.
The porn king DeSantis is currently auctioning the car on the shopping site eBay and the opening price is $25,000 which is much below the price which car sells at. The new Maserati Quattroporte GT currently costs around $115,000 or more. Since the Maserati was driven by Lindsay Lohan, the auction might even fetch more than the current price of the car, after all Lindsay Lohan has lots of die-hard fans.
The auction listing of the car doesn’t specify anything about the accidents or wrecks caused by Lindsay Lohan or her Assitant.
Here is how they describe the car “This 2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT, has been in the press and photographed by the paparazzi on several occasions, while associated with Lindsay Lohan. This white Sport GT comes from Modena, Italy fully loaded with Brembo brakes, power seats, CD player, rear sunshades, parking sensors, suede headliner, white stitching, GT wheels and tires, sport exhaust, navigation and moon roof. This celebrity car has been in US Weekly and in every gossip celebrity site possible.”

The ‘2 Posti’ was then renamed to Mistral after a strong cold wind in the Southern region. In 1968 the Mistral Spyder became the most modern car ever to win the Best in Show award at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elégance.
Peitro Frua of Turin styled the Mistral and it was a completely new design which was elegant and further enhanced in a convertible form. The Maserati Mistral is generally considered as one of the most beautiful Maseratis of all time and is also often confused to the very similar looking but larger and more powerful AC Frua, which was a Frua design as well. It had its air intake mounted underneath the front bumper and this did away with the standard grille. The tailgate was also premiered on the Mistral and the car was very spacious and airy with large windows. The early Mistrals were made of alloy but from 1967 they complete body except the bonnet and doors were made of steel. The chassis consisted of square-section tubes and a wheelbase of just 2.4 metres.
The Mistral was the last of Maserati’s 6 cylinder gran tourismos and was a hatchback.Masearti produced 120 spyders and 830 coupes. There were five Mistral models. The Mistral 4.0 and Mistral 4.0 Spyder (fitted with 4 litre engines), the Mistral 3.7 and the Mistral 3.7 Spyder (fitted with a 3.7 litre engines) and the earlier Mistral 3.5 Spyder that was fitted with a 3.5 engine that was thought to be enough for drop-top motoring. The engines had twin ignition and indirect fuel injection and offered exceptional power, smoothness and economy. All Mistrals had standard disc brakes and optional 3 speed auto transmission, air conditioning and a radio.
