In the early part of this year in The United States Maserati ran a contest with the Architectural Digest magazine to design an architecturally perfect garage for Maserati. The competition was divided into two sections – existing and concept. Some 125 entries were received overall and winners have been selected. Winner of the ‘Existing’ category was Holger Schubert’s property located in Los Angeles. This property was designed with twin objectives, one being to create a pure and minimalist ambience that allows to present the car as a work of art and the second was to create the ultimate experience for the driver when he reaches home.

Schubert’s garage has the atmosphere of an art gallery and it is located on the upper level of a hillside extension of a 1953 ranch style home that overlooks western Los Angeles. Access too this garage is via a bridge, while a 1200 square foot space not just houses a car but has a large open space to place a sofa, a slide away TV and an in-built book shelf that is in front of a large room for storage. There is also a small kitchen, bathroom and a library.
